According to Greg Sheridan, the carbon price is an “elite solution”, supported by “elite opinion” and the “elite media” (“Labor’s Euro vision provides the smoke and mirrors for a carbon tax”, The Australian, 18/6). I’m certainly glad we are not adopting a second-rate solution, supported by second-rate opinion, but Sheridan’s opposition to the tax does pose the question of how he rates his own position in the media.
